Vastu Tips for Bathroom Design in Indian Homes

Jan 12, 20265 min read

Many Indian homeowners want their interiors to align with Vastu Shastra principles. Here's how to design a Vastu-compliant bathroom without compromising on modern aesthetics.

Direction: Ideally, bathrooms should be in the northwest or west direction. Avoid the northeast corner as it's considered the most sacred zone.

Toilet Placement: The toilet seat should face north or south, never east or west. This is one of the most discussed Vastu guidelines.

Door Position: The bathroom door should ideally face the north or east wall. Avoid doors directly facing the kitchen or pooja room.

Colours: Light shades like white, cream, sky blue, and light green are considered auspicious and also make the space feel brighter.

Mirror Placement: Mirrors should be on the north or east walls. Avoid placing them directly opposite the door.

Drainage: Water should ideally drain towards the north or east. Slope the floor accordingly during construction.
